The Alpha Lambda Chapter is the advising alumni chapter to two of the some of the most highest achieving chapters in not just the Kentucky District, but the Mighty Midwestern Region in Alpha Pi and Beta Mu Chapters.
COLLEGE CHAPTERS
The Alpha Lambda Chapter is the advising alumni chapter of the Alpha Pi Chapter, seated at the University of Louisville, and Beta Mu Chapter seated at Kentucky State University. Both chapters are amongst the chapters in the Midwestern Region in terms of academic performance, community service, and involvement within their perspective campuses.
ALPHA PI CHAPTER
University of Louisville
Alpha Pi Chapter was originally chartered in 1924 at Atlanta University but soon passed out of existence as an undergraduate chapter after Atlanta University became a graduate school. The name “Alpha Pi” was subsequently assigned to the chapter at Louisville Municipal College on May 7, 1934. The charter members were Lincoln Blackwell, Jerome C. Hancock, Ray Russel, Frederick D. Waldrip, Euclid A. Whitney, George Woodson, and George Woolfolk.
When Louisville Municipal College closed in 1951, the chapter was resurrected by Alpha Lambda several times during the 1960s and 1970s. The Chapter was resurrected once and for all at the University of Louisville in 1978 with the “Horrendous Five” reactivation line.

BETA MU CHAPTER
Kentucky State University
The Beta Mu “Strong Arm” Chapter was chartered on April 28, 1932 at Kentucky State College, now Kentucky State University. It was the first Greek-lettered organization on the campus and the first undergraduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha in the state of Kentucky.

Charter members were: William Colran, William Coleman, J. Waymon Hackett, Howard Givens, William Davidson, John W. Givens, Lonnie Moton, Russell Stone, Stephens Samuels, Robert Thompson, James V. Washington, William Didlick, W.M. Thomas, Warren Whyte and James Drummer.
