Alpha Lambda Contributes to Charitable Causes

Each year, the Alpha Lambda Chapter participates in the annual Bowl for Kids Sake, March for Babies and Relay 4 Life. Each event, hosted by a local partner of Alpha Lambda provides the Chapter an opportunity to fundraise and volunteer to enhance event success.

The Annual Greek Bowl for Kids Sake, sponsored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Kentuckiana was held on Sunday, April 24th at Ken Bowl Lanes. The Bowl for Kids Sake is BBBS's largest fundraiser to collect necessary funds to provide match support for Bigs and Littles. Brothers who attended enjoyed 2 games of bowling, along with pizza and drinks. Big Brothers Charles Piphus and Kevin Cowherd also brought along their little Brothers, Keishon and Carvel. Through their fundraising efforts, Alpha Lambda raised $700 for this year's event.

The Annual March for Babies, sponsored by the March of Dimes, was held on Saturday, May 14th at Waterfront Park. This event helps to raise funds to assist March of Dimes in their effort to help babies get off to a healthy start. Brothers came out at 7 am to help with event set up and stayed after the event to break down. Through fundraising efforts and proceeds from the 2015 West Louisville 5K Fun Run, the Alpha Lambda Chapter raised over $2500.00.

The Annual Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, was held on Friday, June 10th at Louisville Male High School. Relay 4 Life raises funds and awareness for Cancer Research. Brothers came out and grilled food, played games, walked the track and engaged in a spirit of camaraderie with all in attendance. Special shout out to Brother Lathon Logan for being part of the Event Planning Committee.
